Providence – Community Video

Are You Ready to Play in the Mud?

Published on May 18th, 2011

Participate in the 2010 Mad Mud Run make their way through the mud pits. This year's event will culminate in a 40-foot mud pit.

The Mad Mud Run is here! This Saturday, May 21st, the fastest mud crawlers will get dirty to raise money for charity. Participants 12 and older will compete in a 4.6 mile race through the Providence community and raise money and donations for Safe Nest. The course is geared toward all fitness levels and will test competitors’ ability to maneuver over a low wall,
belly crawl through the mud, show patience crossing balance beams, fight through a water wall, and ultimately cross a 40-foot mud pit. Be sure to compete in style! Those with the best costumes will receive a prize, along with the fastest mud crawlers. There is also a 100-meter Mudpuppy Splash that is open to the first 200 children ages 4 to 12 who register.

Registration for the Mad Mud Run is $60 per person, and includes a Mad Mud Run t-shirt, race bib, good stuff goody bag, official “mine is cooler than yours” dog tag and sponsor-provided snacks and drinks. The Mudpuppy Splash costs $15 per child. Proceeds will be donated to Safe Nest, a non-profit organization that fights domestic violence. Electronic
registration has ended for the Mad Mud Run, but registration for the Mudpuppy Splash will be available until 10 a.m. on race day. Entrants and other attendees also are encouraged to donate to or bring gently used clothing and household items for Safe Nest.

Whether you plan to compete or not, please bring your squirt guns, water canons and super soakers. Join us at Knickerbocker Park in the Splash Zone, where we’ll douse the competitors as they come out the gates!
