The Providence Community Yard Sale will be held this Saturday, May 19 from 7 a.m. to noon. Organized by the Providence Master Homeowners Association, more than 60 homes in the master planned community are expected to participate with goods ranging from baby and adult clothing to household items to furniture and antiques. Maps of participating homes may be picked up starting at noon on Friday, May 18 at Providence’s new Knickerbocker Park, 10695 N. Dorrell Lane, and from 7 a.m. to noon on May 19 at the Providence Master Homeowners Association office, 7181 N. Hualapai Way.

Attendees to the yard sale also are invited to bring new and gently used books to the Providence Master Homeowners Association office for Spread the Word Nevada. The nonprofit organization promotes literacy to make it possible for all children in Nevada to experience the magic of books.

First, we want to say a big thank you to everyone who participated in the 2012 Mad Mud Run, either as a mudder, a member of our Super Soaker Squad, or as a fan cheering our runners on!

This year’s event was bigger than last year: 608 adults and close to 100 kids participated. Race results are at the very bottom of the Las Vegas Mad Mud Run page, which can be viewed by clicking HERE. (Note: the participant/result numbers won’t add up perfectly because some racers didn’t wear their numbers and/or their number came off during the run, so they’re not listed.)

Additionally, more than $3,000 in cash and books was donated to Spread the Word Nevada.

THANK YOU to the 16 students from the DECA Club (Distributive Education Clubs of America) at the Advanced Technologies Academy (T-TECH) and three adults who volunteered during the event. Their assistance and enthusiasm was invaluable. We couldn’t have done it without you! Sierra Adventure Sports, which organized the event and similar races across the country, made a donation to DECA in the students’ name.

The Mad Mud Run will take place tomorrow! If you haven’t signed up yet, but want to participate in all the muddy fun, it’s not too late! Day-of registration will be available tomorrow morning, from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. for the Mad Mud Run, and from 10 a.m. for the Mudpuppy Splash. The races start at 10 a.m. and around 11:30 a.m. and cost $60 and $15 per person, respectively.

For those interested in participating in the Mad Mud Run without the 4.5-mile run and 40-foot mud bath, you’re in luck! Mad Mud Run organizers need people to douse participants with water in the course’s Splash Zone, so Super Soakers are welcome! Come out to help cheer on your friends and neighbors, and stay to give them a good splash!

Other activities at the park will include registration, entertainment, refreshments, booths, volleyball, soccer and other park games. Awards will be given to the fastest individuals and teams and for best costumes. Mad Mud Run organizers also need people to douse participants with water in the course’s Splash Zone so Super Soakers are welcome. Other volunteers are welcome too.
