Get in the holiday spirit during Hometown Holidays at Providence on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Knickerbocker Park in the Providence master planned community. The park is located at 10695 Dorrell Lane, just off the North 215 Beltway and Hualapai Way exit.
The free event will begin with the lighting of a Christmas tree and features Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa arts and crafts, caroling, DJ, free cookie decorating, snow machines, a light show, food trucks and hot chocolate, the latter free for Providence residents and $1 for non-residents.
Santa Claus, the Grinch and P.D., the 7-foot-tall caramel-colored “Providence Dog” mascot, will be available for photos, along with Elsa, Anna and Olaf from Disney’s “Frozen.” There will be special holiday picture package opportunities with Santa Claus that will include a complimentary Hometown Holidays at Providence frame.
Event attendees are invited to bring canned goods and other non-perishable items to help families in need during the holidays. All donations will benefit Three Square, a nonprofit food bank that helps nearly 100,000 individuals monthly and works with more than 1,300 partner sites – including nonprofit and faith-based organizations, schools and after-school and feeding sites – in times of crisis and hunger.
Lighted park decorations and a 10-foot-tall holiday house for P.D. designed and sponsored by Stage House, a Las Vegas-based design company, and other Winter Wonderland decorations throughout the master plan will be displayed from Nov. 28 to Jan. 2.
In addition to Hometown Holidays activities, Knickerbocker Park features tot lots for 2 to 5-year-olds and 5 to12-year-olds, swing set, dog park with small and large dog areas, splash pad, youth baseball field, multi-use events field, jogging path with exercise stations, and picnic areas. The park’s design and location also provides spectacular views of the entire Las Vegas Valley.
Hometown Holidays at Providence is sponsored by the Providence Master Planned Community, Providence Master Homeowner’s Association, and Stage House. For information, call (702) 216-2020.
