Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday at The Promenade Park

Ice cream is delicious on a warm afternoon. It’s even better when it’s free. Combining the two is the annual Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday at the Providence master planned community on Sunday, Sept. 28.

The free family event and activities is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Promenade Park inside Providence in northwest Las Vegas. The park is located at 7195 Egan Crest Way, just north of the I-215 North Beltway and Hualapai Way. Look for the large green balloon.

Meadow Gold is providing ice cream sandwiches and other frozen treats. In preparation, it’s sharing some fun facts about its products and the black and white-spotted Holstein cows that produce the milk.

• A dairy cow drinks 67 quarts of water daily – about a bathtub full.
• A cow produces 90 glasses of milk a day, and 200,000 in a lifetime.
• All cows are females. Bulls are male.
• Children, ages 2 to 8, should have three servings of milk daily to help teeth and bones grow strong.
• Nine to 18-year-olds should have four servings of milk or milk products daily.
• It takes 29 cups of milk to make one pound of butter.
• An average dairy cow can produce enough milk in her lifetime to make a little over 9,000 gallons of ice cream.
• The udder of a cow can hold between 25-50 lbs. of milk.
• The pasteurized milk storage silos at Meadow Gold will hold enough milk to make 2,720,000 half pints of school milk.

Festivities also will include ice cream-eating contests and prizes, petting zoo, balloon animals, entertainment provided by Amazing Clowns, and more. A variety of businesses will have booths and exhibits, including Pacific Dental, Resort Stay International, Team Ford, T-Mobile and Winder Farms.

Attendees are invited to bring new or gently used books for Spread the Word Nevada. The nonprofit organization promotes literacy to make it possible for all children in Nevada to experience the magic of books. Visit www.spreadthewordnevada.org to learn more.

Now in its 13th year and fifth at Providence, Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday is presented by Sunny 106.5, Clear Channel Media + Entertainment, Providence Master Planned Community, Providence Master Homeowners Association, Meadow Gold and Team Ford Lincoln.

Before and after the event, attendees are invited to tour the 1,200-acre master plan and its variety of neighborhoods built by its nationally recognized homebuilder partners. They include: Lennar, Pardee, Richmond American Homes, Ryland Homes, Summit Homes and Woodside Homes.

Going fast are homes in Richmond American Homes’ great Chestnut Hill neighborhood, which is in the close-out phase with quick move-in homes priced from the mid $200s. Plans have expansive great rooms, available first-floor bedrooms, maple cabinets, stainless-steel appliances, granite kitchen countertops, ceramic tile flooring and more. Chestnut Hill is near Providence parks. For information, visit www.richmondamerican.com or call (702) 638-4440.

Providence is the country’s eighth best-selling master-planned community and Nevada’s second best-seller, according to several leading real estate advisory firms. It features wide tree-lined boulevards, miles of trails systems and parks – a third opening later this year – with multi-use play fields and kids’ areas. The master plan is minutes from shopping, dining and I-215 and U.S. 95 access, and close to Nellis and Creech Air Force bases.
