Thank you to everyone who joined us last Saturday to celebrate the opening of Knickerbocker Park!
Festivities included entertainment by Tony Marques, and his band; carnival-style refreshments; remarks by park development principals; and a spectacular show by Fireworks by Pyrotecnico. There also was a ceremonial first pitch by Focus Property Group founder and chief executive officer John Ritter and Councilman Steve Ross; an appearance by Cosmo, the Las Vegas 51s’ mascot; and the introduction of the new Providence mascot, PD! Short for Providence Dog, PD is 7 feet tall and caramel-colored with chocolate spots and big floppy ears. Watch for him at future events.
Music lovers enjoyed an extra treat throughout the Tony Marques performance with the addition of Jonathan Gilchrest, who played saxophone, fiddle and keyboards and performs with the popular band Yellow Brick Road. Another bonus occurred when “Westside Wayne,” a Providence resident, joined the band onstage and played harmonica for a song.
For Tony Marques fans, upcoming dates include:
Dec. 14-18 at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill at Harrah’s Hotel and Casino, starting at 9 or 9:30 pm depending on day
Dec. 28-29 at Roxy’s Saloon at Sam’s Town from 8 pm to midnight
Jan. 1-8 back at Toby Keith’s
You can view Tony’s complete schedule here.
Knickerbocker Park is located at the southeast corner of Shaumber Road and Dorrell Lane, and is now officially open for our community!
