National Night Out Block Party at Providence on Aug. 6
Free event combines neighborhood unity, crime prevention, law enforcement partners
The Providence Master Homeowners Association is throwing a party, and the public is invited to attend. The free National Night Out Block Party at Providence will be Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the master plan’s KnickerbockerPark, located at 10695 Dorrell Lane, north of the I-215 Beltway and Hualapai Way exit.
With activities for all ages, the fun and educational evening is designed to raise crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and unity, and foster community-law enforcement partnerships. There will be exhibits, information and demonstrations from area first responders, plus emergency vehicles to see and explore. Some of the participants are the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s (Metro) Northwest Area Command and Northwest Area Neighborhood Watch, Metro’s Crime Prevention and SWAT, Las Vegas Fire Department, Medic West, and Trauma Intervention Program of Southern Nevada.
Information about the P.A.R.T. Campaign – Prevent Any Road Tragedy – a local traffic safety campaign aimed at reducing the number of fatalities and injuries on community roadways and thoroughfares will be shared. The initiative has been developed by the Providence Traffic Advisory Task Force, an effort of the Providence Master Homeowners Association in conjunction with Metro, City of Las Vegas Public Works, Focus Property Group, Capital Consultants Management Corporation and other traffic safety advocates.
The Block Party also includes a large-scale version of the classic “Red Light – Green Light” game, video games through Game Truck of Las Vegas, deejay and music, balloons, face-painting, volleyball, soccer, and P.D., the Providence dog mascot. Free popsicles will be available, and the family-owned Chi-Town Hustler Food Truck will be selling Chicago and Italian-style favorites.
National Night Out events are held annually throughout the country. The National Night Out Block Party at Providence is one of the few such events open to the public in northwest Las Vegas.
