Fill the Bookcase

Published on June 12th, 2012

The first bookcase filled with books collected at Providence has already been donated to Spread the Word Nevada. Stop by and help us fill the second bookcase!

The Providence Master Homeowners Association is partnering with Spread the Word Nevada this year to place books into the hands and homes of children within Southern Nevada’s at-risk, low income communities. The “Fill the Bookcase” campaign was introduced at the Mad Mud Run event on April 21, and will continue throughout the year. Providence residents may participate by donating new and gently used books to the Association Management Office, located at 7181 N. Hualapai Way, Suite 150, or at upcoming community events.

One full bookcase has already been donated, adorned with the following quote by Mary Ellen Chase: “There is no substitute for books in the life of a child.” The first donation included 345 books.

Once the second bookcase is filled, another donation will be made to Spread the Word Nevada, and a new literary quote will be added to the second bookcase. Together, we can make a difference in the life of a child, one book at a time.
